Program Guidelines
The purpose of this program is to provide limited funds to organizations from the GSA in order to assist in the provision of events or services that are of interest to a broad group of graduate students.
Events are one-time occurrences and might include colloquia, symposia, special event speakers, film presentations and cultural events. Services are longer term in nature, and should not duplicate those provided by the university. These events and services must improve the academic achievement of graduate students. Given the generally high cost of these activities, it is expected that groups requesting funds through the GSA will also seek co-sponsorship from other organizations. Due to the length of time between GSA meetings, it is advisable to submit an application as early in the event planning stages as possible.
- The maximum amount of award is $250.00 per application. Applications are limited to one per organization per fiscal year, with funding provided on first-come first-serve basis until allocated funds have been fully dispersed.
- To be considered for a grant the contact person must fill out the appropriate form which requests information on budget, promotion of the event or service, and benefits to graduate students.
- Recognized Senators at a regularly scheduled GSA Senate meeting will vote on all applications. A representative of the applicant group will be invited to present the proposal and answer questions from those in attendance.
- Applicants will provide full information on the event or service which will be posted on the GSA website and publicized on the GSA e-mail list.
- Checks cannot be issued to individuals, except on a post-event basis with the provision of original receipts.
